Locks of Love
Most people enjoy helping others because it makes them feel good and because it gives them an opportunity to serve someone other than themselves. It doesn’t always take money to help others in need. But, often individuals don’t know how to make a contribution or they feel awkward about it.
My daughter is a young mom, with little time to donate to the community because her toddlers keep her busy. She also doesn’t have spare cash. But, she has beautiful hair, which she recently donated to Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides the highest quality prostheses to disadvantaged American and Canadian children who have lost their hair due to illness or disease. Qualifying children are eligible to apply for a new prosthesis every 18 months. Locks of Love accepts real hair donations of 10 inches and longer. My daughter sent a foot long pony tail to the organization and had enough to spare for a medium length haircut.
Field Corn
Field Corn
Dublin, Ohio, just outside of Columbus, brings new meaning to field corn. Neat rows of the cornstalks, which stand over 6 ft. tall are a stark reminder of what has grown out of the farm fields that once surrounded Columbus.
Somehow seems fitting that cement corn would be a memoir of the agricultural history that is now overgrown with parking lots and corporate centers.

Now that's some big corn! Like to see Jimmy crack that.
Between Bars
Between Bars

See the locked gate with the wide bars behind the columns? Suppose a 19-month old slid between the bars, which aren't quite wide enough for an adult to slide through. Lucky for us, my daughter was quick - and snatched her toddler before she ran out of arms reach. Shew! Talk about almost excitement. Later we laughed about how we'd explain to a 911 operator that a toddler was locked in President Harding's memorial.

Hello People
*Waving hello. My name is Kimberly. When I'm not doing laundry and putting it away, I might be engaged in other yummy things like cleaning, working in the yards, playing with the kids, helping with schoolwork, cooking, keeping up with the family, squeezing in vacations, starting a new project in the house - or writing. Writing is what brings me here to PNN.
I've published mostly non-fiction articles and poetry. Currently 2 of my picture books are being considered for publication. I write across various genres. Wanna know more about me or writing? Feel free to drop a note.
