Office project nearly reaches completion
It's been a month almost to the day since the office project began and I'm thrilled to report it's nearly completed. Ken Rhoads Builders did a fine job for us and gave us a great deal on the building componets of the project, but we had the floor to finish before we could move the furniture and hardware in. I set out last week determned to find a perfect floor solution. I solicited your help AND visited bargain outlets, Lowe's, Home Depot, resale, and yay...success. Except I never guessed it could cost SO much! Ed agreed the flooring I found provided an excellent option over everything we had considered, but it indeed extended beyond our budget range for the project. For the hec of it, I searched craigslist a couple days later and someone had posted an ad an hour prior for a matching product. Call it a cooincidence...but, I'm in the *Other camp. The best part? The man had enough flooring for us to do the entire basemt! Yup. The entire basement area minus the pantry/storage room. But, it all needed cleaned. No probem. We bought all the flooring lugged it home in the SUV, unloaded it and began the task of cleaning 2'X2' interlocking rubber tiles. Today though we have sore backs, aching muscles and another 100 + tiles to clean, we also have a office floor! WOOT! Next, I need to purchase the pull out keyboard and mouse drawers for the desks and under-the-desk file cabinets with wheels.
As usual, I'm loading pics. The rest of floor will be finished this week assuming my son's schedule permits. Thanks for all your input. I'm not sure what we would have selected if the tiles hadn't popped up on the radar.
Finally, take note of the blue-stained doors (Island Water), which entailed a lot of work. Staining, sanding and 2 coats of polyurethane made 3 bland doors look interesting, colorful and appealing.
Just one more thing, I posted an article last week asking if you had a good credit card story to which I could partner with a pic of my choice. MOM posted the only story, albeit cute. I'll load a pic to partner with her story one day this week. But, have you a story you'd like to share as well?
*Please excuse the poor lighting issues. I used a compact digital and it's not very forgiving. Notice most of my pics with the compact are daylight shots outside. ;)
